I chose Saul on the Road to Damascus because I wanted to meditate on the feeling Saul must have felt when he was struck by the power of God's love. I didn't just want to copy Caravaggio's painting in my own style, I wanted to personalize the image by putting myself into the painting dressed in western attire so that I could try to get a better sense of what Saul must have felt when he was struck by the blinding light and hearing the words God spoke to him.
